Coffee Coconut Body Scrub

If you haven't heard about the microplastics in your body wash, it's time to do a little research. Many common bathroom products (especially body washes and facial scrubs) are filled with microplastics that act as an exfoliate. The problem with these tiny bits of plastic is that they don't degrade once sent down the drain. Animals like fish each them up thinking they are food and they build up in their stomachs. Many fish nowadays can be cut up to find plastic inside of them.

Instead of sending plastic down the drain, switch to an alternative that only sends natural, compostable ingredients out with the water!

Edible Coffee Body Scrub

My favorite body scrub is one made with coffee. I love the smell of it as well as the alive and fresh feeling I associate with it. It's especially convenient if you already drink coffee and can use the used grounds in the recipe. If you've been looking for an alternative to your store bought scrub, this is a very simple one to try out first!

Coffee Coconut Scrub

1 part coffee grounds

1 part granulated sugar

1 part coconut oil

The best thing about this recipe is that you can make however much you want! With equal parts of each ingredient, you don't have to worry too much about measuring and weighing out each one. Just pick a container and fill it up until it's full!

I personally like to use this one on my body and not my face because I find that the coffee grounds are sometimes a little to harsh for sensitive skin. If you feel the same way, you can easily replace it with oatmeal which has a softer texture.

Enjoy your silky smooth skin and delicious smelling shower!
