Ditch the Aerosol Air Freshener

If you're anything like me, those horrible aerosol air fresheners in public bathrooms make your head hurt and start you sneezing like crazy! Aerosol cans are also nearly impossible to recycle and often times have to be disposed of in hazardous materials sites because of the pressure inside.

At the same time, I'm not a fan of a stinky room either...To avoid spraying nasty fragrances in my own home, I've started making my own air freshener. You'll only need four ingredients to get your bathroom smelling lovely again with this recipe!

Ingredients:

  • Essential Oil (scent of choice)

  • Distilled Water

  • Vodka

  • Spray Bottle

In all honesty, I make this recipe slightly different every time! Start with filling your spray bottle with mostly distilled water and about 1/5th vodka. The vodka acts as a preservative to keep bacteria from building up in the bottle. Then add as much scent as you like! If you're choosing a scent like peppermint, spearmint, or eucalyptus, you will need less than, say, lavender. But really the strength is up to you!

Label your bottle with a catching slogan like "Summer Breeze" or "Seasonal Memories" and let your family enjoy a beautiful smelling bathroom all day long!
